6 Steps to Finding Teen Jobs

When young people become a certain age, they want to earn
money for games, clothes, movies and food. There are jobs for 14 year olds,
jobs for 15 year olds and jobs for 16 year olds and older. At each age, there
are different jobs available. For the purpose of this article we will talk
about jobs for 16 year olds and older.
If this is your first job, don’t worry, teen jobs are within your reach.
Just follow these steps.
Prepare. Gather information about yourself regarding any type of work you have done, either paid or unpaid. Write down the names of schools attended, unique courses you took, sports, plays, and other school clubs you belong to, and if you belong to 4H, Girl Scouts, or Boy Scouts. Get an email address. The email address should just be your name. Such as yourname@yahoo.com. Evaluate the hours that you will be able to work. This is very important to employers.
Check the rules for working. If you are 14 or 15 years old, the hours you can work are limited. Read more about that here: Get working papers from your school. This is just a short form to fill out. Your guidance counselor should have one for you.
Decide where you would like to work. If you are interested in shopping, consider jobs at the mall or in local department stores. If you like to be outdoors, look for camp jobs. Places that hire teens for first jobs without experience will hire for positions such as car wash attendant, busser, rides attendant or ticket taker, bagger at grocery store, concession cashier, food prep, dishwasher, golf caddy, kennel worker, lifeguard, sales associate, referee, crew member, newspaper carrier, farm hand, movie theater usher, and hair salon assistant.
Take the information you have gathered in step 1 and write a resume. You can easily create a resume on Word. Print out several copies on quality paper. Following is a sample resume for high school students:
