Working at Starbucks
A lot of teens want to work at Starbucks; it's a cool job. Besides that, it is a great company to work for. They hire kids as young as 16 years old. You can apply online and then call or stop in to see the manager and introduce yourself. You might have to talk to several interviewers before you get hired. Be aware that great customer service is very important to Starbucks. You will be asked how you would handle certain situations, and/or to explain times when you had to work within a team. If you are hired, you will need to complete training. Trainees usually start working at the register.

This employer has benefits such as help with college tuition, free drinks, free coffee beans, and store discounts.  If you take a job as a barista, you have to be able to work various shifts. You might work opening the store or closing the store. If you are not a barista, there are other support positions available.

Be prepared to handle all kinds of customers. Some people are very particular about their coffee. Others want to talk about their problems with you. People can be inconsiderate of your job. They will not know what they want to order and will take their time paying while there is a line. Some people talk on their cell phone while talking to you. Customers ask for things that do not make sense and cut the line to get things they forgot. You will learn to take complicated orders quickly and accurately. If you can work under pressure well, you will succeed at Starbucks.

Below are some good videos about what it is like to work there.
