This article talks about some well known problems with the teen job market. There are less openings for teens because other demographics are taking them. The unemployment rate for teens is much higher than for adults. The unemployment rate for black teens is even higher. There is also the fact that less teens are applying to jobs than they have in prior years. Some ways for teens to find jobs is through friends and relatives. The school and the city or county jobs programs are also great ways to get referrals.

I like this list. We have mentioned all of these jobs on our website, Teen Career Center too. All of these jobs are sill available for teens. Teenagers just need to keep trying to obtain interviews. Some ways to gain a job seeker advantage are to prepare a resume, obtain some experience by doing odd jobs or by volunteering or interning. Apply in person and follow up with a phone call.

Teens, we need your opinion. This article with comments is about moms complaining that their teens are not motivated to find work. I think that moms should start with having their kids do chores for allowance at the very least. Babysitting is a good next step. Finally, helping teenagers find work that excites them is a good way to motivate them. I agree with the mom who says that we should not push our kids take anything in an act of desperation.
