It can be helpful to hear first job stories from adults. We like to know what jobs are possible, where people eventually ended up in life, and their best tips on succeeding. Your first job is your initial step to your lifelong work experience. I have read many of these stories and it seems that entry level jobs 20 years ago are still the entry level jobs of today. Summer and part time opportunities such as lifeguard, fast food worker, camp counselor, pizza maker, retail associate, movie ticket taker, cashier, grocery bagger, and water park attendant are timeless.

This story demonstrates that fast food jobs do not end a career. It supports the opposite theory that when teenagers work it is likely that they will go on to have other career success. Any job that a teen can get will teach them a work ethic, team playing, the value of money, and that they can accomplish great things. Most adults look back on their initial work experience with gratitude and pride. It is funny to note that this councilman started at McDonalds 34 years ago and this is the same job that young people often start out in today.

Deadspin How To Win Your First Week At A New Job Deadspin The nice thing about a new job is that it probably won't start sucking immediately. It'll be easy at first—kind of like the first week of class, where the only thing expected of you is your prese ...

This advice on how to navigate your new job is funny and very useful. Although most teens are not going to be in an office job soon, many college interns might be. Remembering names of people that you meet, making an attempt to attend social events with coworkers and learning the best time to arrive to work is really important to fitting in.
